Considered among the oldest towers in the world, Galata Tower was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2013. It was built in 507 AD and reached its current form in 1349. It is one of the symbol buildings of Istanbul. It was used as a fire observation tower for a long time. In the seventeenth century, Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi flew from Europe to Üsküdar in Asia by tying wings made of wood to his back.
